Trainer's Corner
Where experience links the words we read to real life.
Where the stories we've heard are no longer scenes we've painted in our minds, but events we've witnessed with our own eyes.
Where education transforms to wisdom.

I realize I can't be everything to everybody.
When I try, so many of the really important things get pushed to the side or forgotten.
It happens when I'm trying to do 10 different, but seemingly related, things at once. The relativity is a delusion. I think I'm focused, but I'm not. I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, trying to get away from the danger, but ultimately meeting an undesirable fate.
Everything becomes chaotic. My home life, my relationships with friends and colleagues, and ultimately my business.
My Doula Business!
I realize the baby I have nurtured and grown for years is stunted. Even though I feel like I'm making progress in so many areas, my bottom line isn't moving.
It's like being on an airplane that has reached cruising altitude. It feels pretty good so you keep cruising. Maybe you put it on auto pilot and relax for a bit. Unfortunately, you didn't plan for the dark, storm clouds ahead and when you start to experience turbulence you aren't prepared to climb to the next elevation and rise above it. Instead you are forced to weather the storm or even decrease your altitude.
Let me tell you, in the world we live in right now, ain't nobody got time (or money) for that!
A wise woman has repeatedly told me, "What you focus on expands."
As I sit, staring out of my kitchen window into the back yard, these words come to me as I am focused on the stillness of the morning, watching the treetops glisten with the first rays of sunshine rising above the horizon, and the warmth I feel as I grip my favorite mug filled with the season's first taste of apple cider. It's a moment to reflect on where I lost focus.
I'm tempted to take a step back, but am motivated to take a deep breath, adjust my glasses, and move forward, revisiting my list of goals. Once I see where I stepped off the path, I step back on, with clear focus and intention, ready to soar above the clouds again.
