Currently residing just north of Atlanta and servicing the majority of the Metro Atlanta Area, Elysia Douglas exemplifies the meaning of the word doula. As a birth professional, Elysia’s gentle but impactful spirit literally instills strength in all who make her acquaintance. Elysia’s enthusiasm for caring for animals, including her beloved Doberman Pinscher, Jill, (who she “doulaed” for when Jill gave birth to her puppies), sent her on the path to becoming a veterinarian. While in school, Elysia became a young mother. Soon after, her friends began calling upon her when they were having babies of their own. Elysia quickly realized that supporting others through labor and birth was instinctive to her and knew she had found her true calling. A little bit of research brought her to the term doula and the rest is history!

Elysia conveys to each new parent she meets that it’s important to believe in the power within themselves, even if they never have before. She reminds them to surround themselves with people who love them, and who listen to them.

Elysia and her husband have been married for twenty four years and have four children and two beautiful orange tabby cats. In her free time, Elysia takes a deep dive into her family’s history by tracing her ancestors' roots and learning all that she can about each member of her family. She also enjoys sewing and crafting. She is far too humble to tell you but she is also a very talented artist!
